My motivation for GROW

The pandemic has permanently changed our lifes and our industry. Read here what motivates me to actively shape change as a GROW applicant.

The world of work is changing. Within the last 16 months, we have experienced first-hand in our own industry what it means when change takes us by surprise.

The corona pandemic has made both the trade fair industry and us as individuals aware of how complex our environment is. The "New Normal" presents us with great challenges but also with opportunities.

I would like to play an active role in shaping this process of change within the leadership development programme GROW at Messe München. As a strong communicator and networker, I am convinced that I am able to contribute important future skills to the company and develop them further together with the programme.

In a recent research study, McKinsey has identified 13 foundational skill groups of the future, that will help employees thrive to work within the "VUCA world". Communication and developing relationships are two important soft skill areas within this study, which I have been able to proficiently demonstrate in my current position as a Sales Manager. Despite the pandemic, I successfully convinced the European Championships to carry out their track cycling event in one of our exhibition halls in August 2022.

Additionally, I have demonstrated both skills within the Exhibition Think Tank, a global platform for event professionals. Through my participation in numerous networking and sprint sessions, I was able to discuss ideas with industry peers on both reopening the exhibition industry as well as on how to drive innovation as quickly as possible.

I strongly believe that growth does not happen by maintaining the status quo. Thus, sharing knowledge, as well as identifying strengths among team members, is paramount to a company’s success. I am grateful that Messe München GmbH clearly values its employees and understands the value of continued education. Therefore, I am passionate to further nurture my entrepreneurial spirit, work with a diverse international group of colleagues and engage my passion for life-long learning by partaking in the talent programme, GROW.
